Reminiscent of the golden Canadian ales of the early 1900's - during the years that ales continued to dominate the Eastern Canadian brewing scene - the "ales" of Canada capture a style somewhat between the English pale ale and the North American lager.
This "New World" flavour successfully challenged the dominance of lager beers - throughout much of the twentieth century.
This ale style is uniquely aromatic and often richly hopped. It is, in fact, a very pale beer, just slightly darker than modern lagers.
Canadian style ales typically display a good malt flavour and a good range of hop flavours.
This beer is the beer of the north woods - from Lake Superior, sweeping around to Labrador - a strong touch of the long tradition of brewing in Canada.
