Our Master Growers have put down their tools and swept out their sheds. Harvest is done for another year and growers are relaxing after a job well done.
Crop quality across the board is very high with incredible aromas coming from our processing shed! We expect all brewers will be very happy with any 2022 product they receive.
Two varietals really stood out this season - Riwaka™ and Nectaron®, which had a stunning crop year.
The 2022 harvest has been significantly down on yields compared to previous years in some our flagship varieties such as Nelson Sauvin™ and Motueka™. These varieties are each 30% down on estimated volumes prior to the harvest. The total 2022 harvested volume was approximately 22% down on the estimated volume based on previous average yields. Exact reasons are not known at this stage, but could potentially be due to limited sunlight hours during one period of sustained rain.
Our message to brewers is to get your orders in fast, as forward contracts have secured most of the harvest haul. Motueka™ has the greatest availability.
